how did I end up in this place بعيد عن العين، بعيد عن القلب is a solo dance performance telling the story of recurrent daydreaming, the color red and a fabricated conversation full of half sentences and misunderstanding, perfect like a joke. Using Egyptian street dance vocabulary to find home within her body, Hend Elbalouty provides a parallel personal narrative on being an outsider.
“I feel the heat inside my chest, my heart is bumping desires and I feel embarrassed, I always felt embarrassed of using some words in Arabic. I close my eyes and think of one word in Arabic.أحب كلمة الانتشاء...النشوة وذروتها...أنا الأن منتشية بتكرار النغمة وتلاشي الحدود بين جسدي والمكان"
